I got serious about my eating and exercise about 5 weeks ago. In that time, I have cut almost all alcohol from my diet, I haven't eaten any meat, eggs, or dairy foods, and I have been eating plant based whole foods. My exercise has not been super strenuous, but I have been exercising almost every day. My exercise has been mostly walking, pushups, and lifting 10 and 15 pound dumbbels.
I'm counting every calorie that goes in my body, and I'm tracking my steps. So far, I have been averaging about 1,400 calories per day and walking about 10,000 steps per day. This combination of eating and exercise has been good so far to help me lose weight, feel good, and not feel hungry. In the last 5 weeks, I have lost 16 pounds. I'm well on my way to lose 65.
I'm currently reading a book called Burn, by Herman Pontzer. It is a fascinating look at how our bodies actually use the calories that they are given, and the amazing ability of our bodies to adapt to changes in activity and food eaten. My next post will be a book report on Burn.
As Autumn marches on, I'm feeling healthy and feeling good about my progress. I'm confident that Im not past the point of no return on my diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I'll be striving to take control of my health as move forward.
