With my unpleasant health diagnosis, I had some decisions to make. I could do nothing and gradually get sicker and sicker. I could go on the meds, make some moderate changes to my diet, and manage the diabetes. OR... I could take the hard road; drastically change my diet, increase my exercise, lose a bunch of weight, and cure my diabetes.
Curing diabetes is a controversial topic. A lot of doctors say it can't be done; once you have diabetes, you'll always have it. Some doctors believe that it can be cured if you are at a point where you don't need insulin injections.
I did some investigating on how to attempt this, and formulated a plan. I decided that I would switch to a plant-based, whole-food diet. I have added some other restrictions that should help me jump start the process of lowering my insulin resistance and giving my pancreas a break.
